by Laura Freeman | Reporter Published:

City Manager Anthony Bales announced Tuesday that John Jeffers, who represented Ward 4, resigned from City Council after nine years, effective that day.

Jeffers was not immediately available for comment.

The city will accept applications from Ward 4 residents through Jan. 3 and select someone to serve in the Ward 4 seat until the November 2013 election. Candidates must be Ward 4 residents for two years and registered voters.

Council members are paid $10 per month.
