Gareon Conley, a Massillon Washington High School graduate and Ohio State University standout cornerback, is identified in a police report filed by a woman who said he raped her in a Cleveland hotel.
Conley's attorney, Kevin Spellacy, has denied the accusations and called them "ludicrous and ridiculous," according to Channel 19, the CBS affiliate in Cleveland. Conley has not been charged in connection with the alleged incident.
Cleveland police released details of the report Tuesday.
Conley has been projected as a first-round pick in Thursday's NFL Draft, which will bring with it a multimillion-dollar contract. TMZ.com was the first media source to name Conley.
The NFL Network reported Tuesday that Conley would not attend draft events in Philadelphia amid the allegations.
A 23-year-old woman alleged in the report that Conley sexually assaulted her in a suite at the downtown Cleveland Westin in the early-morning hours of April 9. After going out with friends in downtown Cleveland, the woman said, she walked back to the Westin Hotel about 2:45 a.m. She met Conley while riding the elevator with her friends. She decided not to go with her friends and to go with Conley to his room.
The woman told police that another man was in in the room with another woman. The man and woman went to the bathroom, and the victim told police she heard a commotion from the bathroom, and Conley asked the woman if she wanted to have a foursome with the couple in the bathroom. The woman said she did not want to have a foursome, but she told Conley she wanted to watch the other couple have sex.
"(The woman) only said this to Conley to try and avoid having sex with Conley all together," according to the police report.
The woman said once she was in the bathroom, Conley spun the woman around, unbuttoned her pants and began to have sex with her. According to the report, she said, "No, stop, it hurts," but Conley did not stop. She said Conley kicked her out of the hotel room.
The woman described Conley as a "black male, who wouldn't take his sunglasses off and had an Ohio State tattoo on his left forearm."
Police said the hotel room looked to be in normal shape, and no evidence was found.
The woman went to a Cleveland-area hospital to be examined for rape. She refused to speak with police.
According to the report, the woman told police she wanted to go home, and her dignity was stripped from her in a (matter) of minutes."
Spellacy told Channel 19 he has witnesses to prove Conley never was alone with the woman and that she was angry for being kicked out of the room.
"In my opinion, this young lady is an opportunist and it's actually despicable," Spellacy told Channel 19.
Conley has been projected as a top-15 pick in the NFL Draft. Some draft experts have indicated the Cleveland Browns might take the 6-foot-2 cornerback with the 12th overall pick.
