SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say the body of a 9-year-old boy who apparently drowned has been pulled from a creek in southwest Ohio.
Springfield police Sgt. Scott Woodruff says police received the call about a possible drowning in Buck Creek on Monday afternoon.
Clark County coroner’s investigator Mike Haytas (HAY’-tuhs) says the boy has been identified as Collin Jenkins of Springfield.
Haytas says the boy appears to have drowned, but an autopsy was to be performed Tuesday.
Neither the coroner’s office nor police had additional details on how the boy ended up in the water.
Woodruff says there are strong currents in that area of the creek.
