Los Angeles, California – Continuing its culinary collaborations with trendsetting artists, Umami Burger today announced the latest burger in their Artist Series: The Black Keys’ Akron Burger.
“The Black Keys are on top of the music world now,” said Trevor Sacco, Vice President of Operations for Umami Restaurant Group. “We’re honored to add a bit of their ‘flavor’ to the Umami Burger roster.”
Inspired by the superstar rock band’s hometown of Akron, Ohio, the burger features Umami Burger’s signature beef patty topped with Velveeta® fondue, ‘secret sauce,’ yellow mustard, chopped onions and dill pickles, on Umami Burger’s signature bun. It will be available for $13 starting July 1, 2014, at all full-service Umami Burger locations nationwide, while supplies last.
$1 from each burger will be donated to The Black Keys Alfred McMoore Memorial Endowment Fund at Akron Community Foundation. The Black Keys Alfred McMoore Memorial Endowment Fund was established in June 2010 as a permanent source of financial support for Community Support Services. Community Support Services acts as a safety net for Akron-area clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses, helping them get the psychiatric, medical and personal care they need.
The Black Keys’ latest studio album, "Turn Blue," is available now for download at iTunes.com/TheBlackKeys. This fall, the band will embark on a nationwide US tour to celebrate the release.

The Akron Burger is the latest in a series of burgers made in collaboration with and designed to celebrate artists. Umami Burger partnered previously with recording artist and Umami Burger fan Mayer Hawthorne to create the acclaimed Hawthorne Burger as well as Grammy Award winner SLASH to create the Slash Burger, which raised more than $14,000 for The Los Angeles Youth Network, and Chef Michael Voltaggio whose Monte Cristo raised more than $15,000 for the Los Angeles Mission and Chef José Andrés who collaborated with the Umami Culinary Team to create the José Andrés Burger and limited menu of tapas and pintxos available through June 30 benefitting World Central Kitchen.
