The Hudson International Festival, set for April 5-13, will contain a number of new events.
A pre-festival soccer game with an Australian team will kick off the festivities at NC Soccer April 5. The opening ceremony will take place April 6 in the Hudson Library Rotunda at 5 p.m., followed by a parade around the First & Main Green and, weather permitting, ending at the Gazebo on the Downtown Green. As in previous years, downtown merchants will provide food and spirits appropriate to the country they have chosen to represent following the Opening Ceremony.
The week-long International Festival celebrates and honors the diversity and rich cultural heritage of our Hudson community.
"We are grateful to the more than 20 businesses who have already signed on to support the festival and to the organizers for The Run for the Orphans, A Buck for Ubumi, and the Faith and Fair Trade Festival who offer further ways that people can make a concrete difference in our world today," says Janet Rhodes Ross, the International Festival chairperson.
The Closing Ceremony will be April 13 and will be part of the Hudson Expo at the Hudson High School, sponsored by the Hudson Chamber of Commerce.
Additional events are still in the planning stage. The planning committee would especially like to include first and second generation immigrants, and international families residing in Hudson.
