The Hudson Parent Teacher Organization has awarded more than $5,000 in Mini-Grants to the Hudson City Schools with funds raised by this year's Run for the Schools and membership drive.
"We are so grateful to the Hudson community for making our Run for the Schools and PTO membership drive such successful fundraisers," said Becky Hinkle, PTO grants advisor. "The amount of money raised this year allowed us to provide the schools with even more of the educational tools and materials they needed, as well as give some staff members the opportunity to try new things by purchasing items never before used in their classrooms."
Some of the materials purchased include, unicycles, Easi Speak microphones for reading fluency, life vests, digital cameras, book sets and special education items like therapeutic pre-writing tools and sensory room supplies.
The Hudson PTO is a non-profit group that has been active since 1965. The mission of the PTO is to act as a link between the parents, the school and the community; to financially supplement the education of Hudson school children; to actively support the Hudson Schools; and to provide programs to instill a fun and positive atmosphere within the home, school, and community.
