The Hudson Community Service Association is receiving help from 21 Hudson merchants in its annual drive for downtown holiday lighting funds.
For more than 50 years, Hudson Community Service has coordinated the Lighting of the Green, starting years ago with Mary Lou Morse carefully plotting the number of bulbs needed for each tree on the Green, and the number of wreaths and lights needed for the poles along Main Street. At that time, some of the trees were small enough to be decorated without using a ladder.
The trees have grown exponentially, and more have been planted. Wreaths have been added to the light poles in First & Main. This adds to the magic of the holiday season, but also adds to the costs.
