All are invited to come and renew old friendships, meet new friends and learn about the upcoming Hudson Community Chorus season at a picnic, Aug. 19 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the May Pavilion at Hudson Springs Park. HCC will provide main course, beverages and place settings. There is no cost to attend but participants are asked to RSVP to email@example.com by Aug. 15 and bring a side dish or dessert to serve eight to 10 people.
2014-2015 marks the 27th season for the volunteer chorus and the fourth year for Artistic Director Nathanial Duvuvuei. While the group originated in Hudson more than half its members now come from communities throughout northeast Ohio. The mixed chorus performs at least two public concerts yearly featuring a variety of music from the classical masters, the American songbook and composers from Bach, Hayden and Britten to mid-century and modern artists. HCC members also sing in private and community events throughout the year.
HCC meets at 7 p.m. each Tuesday, beginning Sept. 9, in the choral music room at Hudson Congregational Church, 47 Aurora St., Hudson. There are no auditions for the full chorus. Members are invited to audition for the smaller chamber ensemble that is featured in each performance. This year, for the first time, HCC is introducing a Youth Chorus, directed by Eve Sliwinski. The Hudson Community Youth Chorus is designed for students from fifth through 12th grade. The goal of both choruses' is to promote, preserve and advance the art of choral singing throughout the area.
