Program Schedule for July 28 - Aug. 3

The recent interview by WKSU's Kabir Bhatia with author Michael Jaffe about his recent novel "When Blackness was a Virtue" at the Hudson Library and Historical Society as the kickoff event of the Ohio Book Fair will be shown this week. The program was produced by Nick Zaklanovich.

Music from The Western Reserve presents a performance by Cleveland Orchestra cellist Brian Thornton and pianist Elizabeth DeMio featuring the life and music of his teacher, Lev Aronson, followed by Cello Suite No. 3 in C by J. S. Bach.

BRAVO! Kent State Art is a monthly program featuring the students and faculty from the College of Arts at Kent State University. This month's installment features the KSU Fashion School's Designer Show at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens, the 2014 Musical Theater Showcase and a performance from the Kent Blossom Music Festival.

Music from the Buckeye State presents the celebrated Miami String Quartet playing the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The String Quartet in G major, KV 387 entitled "Spring." This is the first of the Haydn Quartets, a set of six string quartets Mozart wrote during his first years in Vienna in honor of the composer Joseph Haydn.

Western Reserve Academy presents the annual William T. Appling Memorial Concert with Quartet for Oboe, Violin, Viola, Cello K370 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart followed by Mass No. 3 in B Flat Major by Franz Schubert. The concert was conducted by Edward Wiles and taped by Matt Gerber.

The City Club of Cleveland presents Jonathan Jarvis, director of the National Park Service.

From the archives, an hour-long program about the 2013 Hudson Farmers Market will be shown this week in honor of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack proclaiming next week, Aug. 3-9, National Farmers Market Week.
