International pianist competition winner to perform June 27

International Piano Competition winner, Weiwen Ma, will perform a recital at Steinway Piano Gallery on June 27 at 7:30 p.m.

Weiwen, a native of Shanghai, China, is a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory of Music and received her Masters Degree in piano performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She made her first appearance in Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in May 2009, as first prize winner of the Bradshaw and Buono International piano competition in New York.

Other solo performances and awards include Town Hall as prize winner of The World Piano competition, The First Chinese International Piano Competition, and a scholarship award from Mannes College the New School for Music. She has been actively perform in most important venues around the area. Her teachers include Antonia Pompa-Baldi and Robert Shannon. She is currently a full time faculty member of Aurora School of. Music, Her program will include works by Chopin, Ravel and Balakeriv. Tickets are available at her website www.weiwenma.com or at the door. There will be a pre-reception at 7 p.m.
