A sure sign that summer is coming is the start of Blossom Music Center's concert season. The concert venue, in Cuyahoga Falls, will have its second concert May 31, featuring Lady Antebellum's "Take Me Downtown Tour 2014," with Billy Currington and Joe Nichols.
"This is my first time touring with Lady Antebellum," said Nichols in a recent phone interview of the tour, which started May 2. "It's great people, with a great vibe. The music and the audience reaction have been positive."
Nichols, a four-time Grammy nominee, is known for his songs such as "Brokenheartsville" and "Gimmie That Girl." His most recent single "Sunny and 75," from his most recent album Crickets was certified gold by the RIAA.
"The overall tone of the record is positive," said Nichols of Cricket. "I'm in a great place in my life right now. I have a great family life, a great wife, soon to be three beautiful daughters."
According to Nichols' official website, www.joenichols.com, daughter Georgia Blue was born a few days after the interview.
Nichols described his live concerts as fast-paced.
"I also like to put in a lot of new music," he said. "A mix of the new stuff with the old stuff, and the occasional curve ball to keep it light. I want the audience to have a good time."
Nichols added that he hopes to come out with another single in early fall.
Blossom Music Center is at 1145 W. Steels Corners Road. For details on this concert or other upcoming concerts, call 330-920-8040 or visit www.theblossommusiccenter.com online.
