Mega Sports Camp

When: July 28-Aug 1, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Cost: $5 per student if registered by July 13. After July 13, the cost is $10

Features: For first through fifth grades. Sports include football, cheerleading and basketball. Each participant will receive a t-shirt, snacks each night and sports instruction.

Strength and Agility Camp

Features: For ages 12 and older. Sessions include a variety of mobility techniques, barbell training, gymnastics/body weight movements, resistant training, spacial awareness and lateral/quickness drills.

Hudson Community Education & Recreation-Sports Camps by Blue Streak

Cost: Full day rate: $220, half day rate, $110. Register for six weeks or more, and receive discounted rate of $175 full day, $90 half day, but must register in person only.

Features: For children from preschool through 10th grade. This non-competitive sport and activity camp offers a variety of sports and outdoor adventures every day of the week. Try canoeing, hiking, fishing, biking, and repelling, combined with traditional sports like baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, track and swimming. Campers are grouped by age and counselors offer an upbeat, caring, and nurturing environment.

Features: For children in preschool through kindergarten. Children can dance and cheer with pompons as they learn cheerleading, jumps and arm movements. Fun, choreographed routines and tumbling will also be taught.

This camp features a different sport each day, and campers will learn by playing non-competitive games. Hudson Community Education & Recreation-Munchkin Volleyball Camp

Features: For kindergarten through second grade. This camp is designed for those who have never picked up a volleyball, as well as those who have watched their older siblings play at various tournaments. Camp will focus on the basic fundamentals of volleyball -- pass, set, take a correct approach jump, hit, serve and even blocking footwork. Taught by Hudson Varsity Volleyball Coach Jessica Ciborek and staff.

Ravenna Summer Playground-Fitness and Nutrition

Features: Fitness activities will include a myriad of activities that address cardiovascular endurance, upper body strength, core strength, flexibility, and muscular endurance. Nutrition education will utilize the national program Dole 5 a Day, one educational hands on learning experience will be introduced each week. Camper will receive a free breakfast and lunch each day which meets the daily dietary guidelines.

Features: Includes Short Stuff Tennis, USA 123 for Kids and Teen Tennis. For Short Stuff tennis, classes use smaller racquets, miniaturized courts and lighter transitional balls. These techniques are part of the USTA's 10 & under initiative. This program is designed for 5-, 6- and 7-year-olds.

USA 123 teaches advanced foundation with plans for a future high school career. A portion of the curriculum uses appropriate transitional balls and smaller courts to improve rally success. This level is geared to players between the ages of 8 and 12. Classes are always segregated by age and ability.

Teen Tennis is geared to the 13 or older player with varying levels of experience. The curriculum focuses on skills needed to succeed on a high school or middle school team. These skills include consistency, movement, balance and doubles foundation.
