The highlight for Tuesday Musical's 2014-15 season, which the organization announced on March 10, will include the first ever joint venture between Tuesday Musical and The Akron Symphony Orchestra.
Violinist Joshua Bell, who has performed for Tuesday Musical in the past, will be featured with the Akron Symphony in a concert scheduled for November.
"This collaboration with the Akron Symphony Orchestra is an opportunity to demonstrate all of our artistic abilities in the community," said Jarrod Hartzler, executive director for Tuesday Musical, during the March 10 press conference.
Paul Jarrett, executive director for the Akron Symphony, said the collaboration, the first between the two entities, will hopefully be the first of many partnerships.
"The core mission of the Akron Symphony is to enhance the quality of life through musical excellence," Jarrett said. "This partnership with Tuesday Musical Association allows us to fulfill that mission at a level that would otherwise not be possible."
All Tuesday Musical concerts are performed at E.J. Thomas Hall in Akron.
In addition to the Nov. 7 concert Akron Symphony Orchestra and Joshua Bell, Tuesday Musical's 2014-15 season will include:
Time for Three string ensemble, Oct. 8
Jonathan Biss, piano, Jan. 20, 2015
Tenor Lawrence Brownlee, Feb. 26, 2015
Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Piano Trio, March 31, 2015, and
Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble, May 5, 2015.
A notable omission in the 2014-15 lineup is the Cleveland Orchestra, a staple for Tuesday Musical for many years. Hartzler said that due to scheduling conflicts, The Cleveland Orchestra will not be performing for Tuesday Musical in the next season, but that the organization "hoped they will return in the future."
Tuesday Musical's next concert, its final one for the 2013-14 season, will feature Susan Graham, mezzo-soprano, and Bradley Moore, pianist, on April 10.
The next concert for the Akron Symphony Orchestra's classical series will be April 12 at 8 p.m. at E.J. Thomas Hall, featuring Beethoven and Rossini.
