'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' wraps up Stow Players' season

Published:

Stow Players closes its 60th Anniversary Season with an American theater classic, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," by Tennessee Williams, opening March 14 and running through March 29.

Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with one matinee on Sunday, March 23, at 2:30 pm.

"Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" is the story of a Southern family in crisis, especially between Brick (Brian Westerley of Akron) and Maggie (Brenda Redmond of Twinsburg), and their interaction with Brick's family over the course of one evening gathering in the plantation home in the Mississippi Delta of Big Daddy Pollitt (Tom Stephan of Stow), a wealthy cotton tycoon. The party is to celebrate the 65th birthday of Big Daddy and his return from a medical clinic where he's been given a clean bill of health.

But all may not be what it seems. Big Mama (Harriet DeVeto of Akron) blithely wants the party to be a happy one; Big Daddy's other son Gooper (Doug Lillibridge of Twinsburg) and his wife Mae (Claudia Lillibridge of Twinsburg) have their sights set on gaining control of the family fortune and bring their "no-neck monsters" (Daevlynne Lambert of Stow, Josie and Colton Reynolds of Stow, Carl Goodell of Akron) to celebrate with the family.

Even family physician Doc Baugh (Dave Hinebaugh of Akron) and preacher Reverend Tooker (Tom Marshall of Tallmadge) join in on the fun before a storm takes liberties with the place, both inside and out. Others in the cast include Dottie Emerick of Kent as a servant and Keri Lambert of Stow as the nanny.

Bill Morgan is director.

Tickets for "Cat" are $12 general admission; $10 for senior citizens and students (although the theater doesn't recommend the show for students younger than high school). There is an opening night BOGO March 14. With the purchase of a general admission ticket, a second can be purchased for $5 (does not apply to senior/student/comp tickets). Only cash or checks are accepted for ticket payment.

All Stow Players performances are in the Heritage Barn in Stow's Silver Springs Park, with access from the Young Road entrance only. Call 330-655-6051 for reservations and information. Visit the Stow Players website at www.stowplayers.net or send an email to info@stowplayers.net.
