As Stow Players begin their 60th continuous year, the theater is looking for new members and volunteers.
To kick off the 2013-14 production year, Stow Players is inviting anyone interested in the group and its productions to a wine and cheese open house on Sept. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Barn, 5238 Young Road, the back entrance to Silver Springs Park. Many current members, actors, directors, Board members and others will be there to discuss the onstage, offstage, and backstage workings of one of the area's oldest community theatres. All directors for the upcoming season will also be in attendance and will answer questions about their productions.
Dress is casual, and "newbies" are welcome. RSVP's are encouraged, too, by calling Stow Players' "Hotline" at 330-655-6051.
The 2013-2014 season includes "Drop Dead!" a fun-filled murder mystery by Billy VanZandt in November, directed by Dave Sherman; a December Holiday show entitled "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus," to be directed by Kathrine Dannemiller; the musical "Where's Charley?" (based on the play "Charley's Aunt") in February, directed by Dustin Oliver; and the Tennessee Williams classic "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" in March, directed by Bill Morgan and featuring Tom Stephan and Harriet DeVeto as Big Daddy and Big Mama. Auditions will be announced in the future.
