"Kerry loves to take a slab of clay and throw it across the room. She has many pieces where this is how she creates her art."
Kerry (last name not given) is one of several artists and clients through Hattie Larlham's Creative Arts Program. A variety of paintings, photographs and ceramics works from the artists at Hattie Larlham can be seen at Jack Richard Studios, in downtown Cuyahoga Falls, themed posAbilities. Her information -- and information on all the artists -- can be found next to their artwork.
Hattie Larlham, which is headquartered in Mantua, provides services for individual with severe disabilities. According to information provided by the organization, the artwork is created in several ways. One, of course, is by the artist. Often, the artists are assisted by Trackers -- professional artists who work with the program participants to unlock their creative potential.
"They are as good as the best artists in the area," said Jack Richard, the studio owner. "Every time I look at these, I see something else. There is so much to see in these paintings."
The pieces on display are on sale (if they haven't been sold), Richard said, with all of the proceeds going to the artist.
These works can be seen through Aug. 28, Richard said, and he added that the exhibit might be extended.

Jack Richard Studios also has several pieces on display from the County of Summit Developmental Disability Board's Dream Out Loud studio, themed "Journey To the Wild Side." With these works, artists with developmental disabilities working through Summit DD were asked to draw an animal. After the animal was drawn, the artists selected fabric, which was sewn to create the animal. Buttons, feathers, other textiles and more were then added for the multimedia project.
"I've never seen anything like this before," Richard said of the multimedia pieces.
The works from the artists at Dream Out Loud Studio can be seen through the end of September, Richard said.
