The Peninsula Art Academy is offering two glassblowing classes to residents who are interested.
Glassblowing 101 with Bob Pozarski - One-day paperweight and beginning glassblowing classes; April 7, 14, 20 and 28. Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Dip molten glass from a furnace and shape it into a paperweight. Blow a bubble and shape it into a tumbler or small vase. Glass artist Bob Pozarski will walk people through the steps to beginning glassblowing. Check the website for additional dates. People must call the instructor to schedule before signing up at 330-836-6758. Registration required. Special dates may be arranged. All classes are one day, 5 hours and there is a limit of four students. The cost is $110 each student or $90 for PAA members.
Glassblowing II is for advanced students, who have had at least two beginning classes, to strengthen their skills. Projects will be selected by the instructor and the student based on the experience level of each individual student. Classes are April 6 and April 21. Registration required. Class time will be divided between explanations on the use of all glass blowing equipment, demonstrations, and hands-on instruction, while emphasizing safe studio habits.
