The Stow Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will inaugurate this year's holiday season with Handel's "Messiah." Under the baton of Music Director Darrell Lee Music, the concerts will be performed at the Tallmadge Alliance Church, 1155 East Ave. at Tallmadge, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
First performed in Dublin in 1742, "Messiah" as presented here sets the biblical texts that prophesy the coming of Messiah, and recount the birth of Christ and his ultimate triumph over sin and death. With a full orchestra and chorus, and vocal soloists, this will be one of the few full-scale local performances of the Christmas portion of this perennial favorite. Following the performance, the audience is invited to join the orchestra and chorus for complimentary refreshments.
Tickets for the concert, available at the door, are $10 for adults, and $7 for seniors and students. Children under 12 are admitted free.
Due to limited seating, advance purchase of tickets is advisable. Tickets are available for pre-sale at www.StowOrchestra.org-tickets.htm, or by calling 330-678-0029, or in limited numbers at the door.
