Ashland University graduates

The following students from Hudson completed their Ashland University degree requirements and will graduate during commencement ceremonies in May.

Nicholas Bartulovic will receive a bachelor of arts degree. Bartulovic is majoring in history and political science. Bartulovic is graduating with Magna Cum Laude and Gamma Kappa Alpha honors. Bartulovic is a 2013 graduate of Twinsburg High School.

Alexandra Bingham will receive a bachelor of science in social work degree. Bingham is a 2013 graduate of Hudson High School.

Arianna Ciepiel will receive a bachelor of science degree. Ciepiel is majoring in Exercise Science. She is the daughter of Anthony and Tina Ciepiel of Hudson. Ciepiel is a 2013 graduate of Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.

Aislinn Sharkey will receive a bachelor of science in nursing degree. Sharkey is a 2013 graduate of Hudson High School.

Burnham honored at Baldwin Wallace University

Sean Burnham of Hudson was honored at the Student Life and Leadership Awards ceremony at Baldwin Wallace University during the spring semester.

Burnham, a graduate of Hudson High School majoring in music education, received the Outstanding New Member Award. The award recognizes the sorority and fraternity new members who have become extraordinarily involved in the fraternity and sorority community and the campus community. Such involvement is reflected in contributions made to the community and to others as a leader and a role model. A nomination for this award reflects the respect gained from the members in the chapter and should be recognized as an achievement in itself. Burnham is a member of Pi Lambda Phi.

Miami University students study abroad

The following Miami University students from Hudson were part of a study abroad group during Winter 2017 semester: Sophia Rafferty studied in the Netherlands; Charles Mayer studied in Australia; William Rice studied in England; Daniel Tiley studied in Italy.

Gough earns recognition

Kelly Gough of Hudson was among over 50 students recognized at the Honors Awards Ceremony during Baldwin Wallace University's Ovation Festival 2017, BW's annual celebration of student achievement.

Gough, a graduate of Hudson High School majoring in mathematics, received the Outstanding Senior Woman Athlete Award.

Mount Union Theatre student earns job

The University of Mount Union's Department of Theatre recently announced that several of its students have been selected for jobs or internships at industry-leading venues across the nation.

Jeff Centrello of Hudson, Ohio will be working at Shakespeare at the Castle located in Alliance.

"We're very proud of not only the number of Theatre students in apprenticeships and internships this summer, but the quality of the places they're going," said Kevin Kern, associate professor and chair of the Department of Theatre at Mount Union. "This really speaks to the type of student that the department is attracting.
