Ellsworth Hill second graders make Valentines for seniors at nursing home

Second grade leaders in Mrs. Smoral's class at Ellsworth Hill Elementary continue to learn about Sean Covey's Seven Habits of Happy Kids. Habit 7 is Sharpen the Saw. In this habit the students learn ways to take care of their body, brain, heart and soul. The students have been discussing ideas to find meaningful ways to help people (soul). A student in the class had visited her great grandma in a Sandusky nursing home. She and her mom asked her classmates to make valentines to help brighten the lives of the people who live in this home. Classmates eagerly went to work and used their creative talents and made beautiful valentines which were delivered to the Sandusky nursing home. Other valentines, made by the students, were delivered to residents at Laurel Lake. When asked, students said they felt happy and excited that their special valentines would bring a smile to so many people.
