Hudson High School Football players and their mascot Thor recently teamed up with fourth graders in Jennifer Antes, Brenda DeLeo and Josanne Hyclak's classes for a "Football Kick-off Day Event at East Woods."
Fifty-two fourth graders paired up with selected NFL teams to learn powerful math lessons in data collection and analysis. The fourth graders are responsible for tracking their NFL teams' wins and losses, points earned and given away throughout the season. The kick-off party, arranged by Hyclak and Coach Ron Wright, provided a interesting story about collaboration between older and younger students, math and football.
"We couldn't be more excited about our football math kickoff and our big board is garnering much attention and conversation. Soon, it will be the spot for much analysis. Several NFL teams are also joining our efforts and sending fan packs to our team owners as an added incentive. Are you ready for some football? Our team sure is," Hyclak said.
