In celebration of reading in general and the joy of summer reading in particular, the 2017 Scholastic Summer Reading Road Trip RV will visit Hudson on July 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The celebration will be held in the First and Main valet parking lot, which is on Village Way Drive, just south of the library.
Kids and families will have the opportunity to participate in their very own "pop-up" reading festival and engage in fun reading activities. In addition, authors Jim Benton ("Dear Dumb Diary") and Troy Cummings ("The Notebook of Doom") will be visiting and signing their books, and there will be a table with special giveaways and a prize wheel.
And as if that isn't enough, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Geronimo Stilton will be available for photographs.
Throughout the 18 weeks of summer, kids can log their reading minutes and unlock digital rewards by visiting www.scholastic.com/summer.
The site has access to free resources, including free summer reading book lists across all ages in both English and Spanish.
At the end of the summer, the school in each US state, territory and in the District of Columbia that has logged the most reading minutes will be given the title "Best in State" and will be featured in the 2018 Scholastic Book of World Records.
In addition, special recognition will be given to the top five libraries and community partner organizations nationwide with the most minutes read.
