P.E.O. presents scholarship

Members of Chapter ET of the P.E.O., Philanthropic Educational Organization, Sisterhood awarded a $750 Ohio Scholarship, which recognizes students who exemplify the requirements of scholarship, academic initiative, need, and leadership to Helen Wallen, a May graduate of Hudson High School. Helen plans to attend Bob Jones University where she will pursue a career as a high school science teacher.

P.E.O. Sisterhood is an international organization founded in 1869 for the purpose of encouraging and supporting women in post-high school educational pursuits through scholarships, grants, and loans. The organization also supports CotteyCollege, a fully accredited four year liberal arts college for women located in Nevada, Missouri, founded and operated by P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Other projects include P.E.O. International Peace Scholarships, established in 1949 to fund scholarships for international women pursuing graduate study in the United States and Canada; and the P.E.O.

Educational Loan Fund available to qualified women seeking assistance for post-high school education.

A P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education is also a viable segmentimage1.JPG of the organization. Established in 1973, the program offers grants to women whose education has been interruptedand who find it necessary to resume studies to support themselves.

In addition, the P.E.O. Scholars award program funds awards to women aspiring to advanced degrees or engaged in advanced research.
