Special needs trout derby May 13

The Goodyear Hunting & Fishing Club will host a Trout Derby next month for children and adults with special needs. On May 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., families and individuals can join the fun at wheelchair-accessible Little Turtle Pond at Firestone Metro Park, 2400 Harrington Road, Akron.

Only special needs children and special needs adults may fish during the event. Adults and guardians must supervise and can assist, but may not fish. Trophies will be awarded to kids 15 and under for the three largest fish caught.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing equipment and bait. Some equipment and bait will be provided, and minnows are not permitted. Free hot dogs, chips and beverages will be served.

That's one fact that those who attend an Akron SCORE-sponsored seminar titled "Cyber Security for Your Business" will learn. The program will be May 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Goodwill Industries, 570 E. Waterloo Road.

Statistics show that 43 percent of cyber attacks target small businesses. Experts at Kimmell Cybersecurity will help attendees understand their vulnerabilities, learn how cyber criminals compromise systems, discuss techniques for protecting regulated data and learn backup and recovery strategies.

EnjoyFairy Days at Heritage Farms

Fairy magic arrived this week on the early spring winds. Preparations have begun at Heritage Farms for our 6th annual Fairy Days Festival on May 20 and 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
