Zane's Foundation to hear about function skills

Published: May 7, 2017 12:00 AM

Zane's Foundation will have its monthly meeting May 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Church in Silver Lake, Fellowship Hall, 2951 Kent Road, Silver Lake.

The topic will be "Executive Function: 101" by Speaker: Christine Chambers, MEd, OTR/L, Abilities First, LLC, Fairview Park.

Does your child procrastinate in starting a project, have trouble keeping on task, or have difficulty keeping their belongings, room or locker clear and organized? Does your child only remember one thing that you asked them to get when you told them 2 or more things? Does your child struggle to keep emotions in check or can he or she be flexible when changes occur? Chambers will help participants to gain an understanding of typical executive function skills at the preschool through teen levels. Parents will learn strategies to help their child gain better emotional control and flexibility. She will also discuss ways to help with task initiation, planning, organization and time management as well as strategies to increase working memory and sustained attention to tasks.

Child care is not available. For more information, contact the Foundation office at 330-677-9263 or visit www.zanesfoundation.org.
