Learn about nonverbal perks, pitfalls of interviewing
You just received a call from an organization that likes your resume and wants to interview you. Now what? You know highlighting your skills and experiences in the interview are important. But, what else can influence your interview, and what can you do to stand out over others and be seen as the best candidate? Holly Klingler will present "Nonverbal Perks and Pitfalls of the Interviewing Process" at the May 1 meeting.
In this program, nonverbal elements that can influence an employer's decision in the interviewing process will be explored, despite their attempt to objectively choose the right person for the job. Environment, psychology, and body language are just a few of the topics that will be discussed. The group will also examine ways you can create a more positive and confident nonverbal presence. In doing so, you will understand the process of interviewing better, and be able to communicate, both verbally and nonverbally, your skills and abilities as the best candidate for the job.

American Legion Auxiliary hosts mystery bag dinner auction
The Hudson American Legion Auxiliary Unit 464 will have a Mystery Bag Dinner Auction at 6:30 p.m.
May 5 at the Streetsboro American Legion Post 685, 10001 Aurora-Hudson Road in Streetsboro.
The money raised will support the Auxiliary's community-related work for veteran hospitals, dinners for veterans, veteran families, Freedom House in Kent, Buckeye Girls State and guest speakers.
Tickets are $15 with a cash bar. Dinner includes chicken marsala, pasta primavera, red skin potatoes, green beans, garden salad, roll and butter.
Mystery Bag bids begin at $5.
All mystery bag gifts are from Karen's Hallmark in Hudson and Gander Mountain in Twinsburg.

Breast Cancer Support Group meets May 5
The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet May 5 at 12:30 p.m. in the Luther Room at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 2113 Ravenna St., Hudson. Rowing class offered May 6, 8
The Portage Lakes Rowing Association will be offering two separate Learn to Row classes on May 6 from 9 a.m. to noon and May 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. Cost is $50. Any adult interested can register on their website at plra.club Graduates can choose whether or not to join the club and enter the novice rowing program, a 10-week course.
Boy Scout Troop 321 hosts 37th annual flower sale on May 13
April showers bring May flowers at Hudson's historic Cabin on the Green. Hudson's Boy Scout Troop 321 continues a 37-year tradition of selling flowers on Mother's Day weekend. This year's event takes place on May 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
All are welcome to browse the wide variety of beautiful ferns, hanging flower baskets, and flats of annuals to spruce up your home, or shop for Mother's Day. Scouts will be on hand to help patrons with their purchases.

Sign up now for Memorial Day Parade
It is time to register for the annual American Legion Family Memorial Day Parade.
The Parade will be May 29 and will start at 10 a.m. The parade will form on Milford Road and go east on state Route 303 to state Route 91 heading north to Markillie Cemetery where there will be a brief service.

All entries should have a patriotic theme if possible and as a reminder please no throwing of candy or distributing of any materials. This is a day to remember service members who died in time of war and conflict. We should respect the day.
All veterans and active duty personnel who would like to march in the parade are asked to complete a Parade Entry form and help commemorate the day. No transportation is provided but veterans are welcome to bring your own vehicle or walk the parade route. A Parade Entry Form must be completed and sent in. Please plan on attending the ceremony at the cemetery to honor our veterans.
