AKRON, OH – The Blick Center has announced its first-ever major fundraising event, on May 12 at The Tangier in Akron. Proceeds from the event will be used to support the Center’s many programs and services that provide care for children and adults with developmental, behavioral, physical and mental health conditions.
“We are very excited about our first big fundraiser,” said Karin Lopper-Orr, executive director of The Blick Center. “It’s going to be a fun evening for people of all ages, and I hope that many members of the community are able to join us for the event.”
The “Blick To The Future,” will have a prom theme, modeled after a very popular event held annually for the Center’s residential clients. Guests are encouraged to wear prom outfits, but it is not required. Individuals served by The Blick Center are also making corsages and boutonnieres for guests to wear.
Additionally, John and Betty Dalton, pillars of the Akron community who have been involved with The Blick Center for decades, are serving as honorary co-chairs of the event. Sponsorship opportunities are available for both organizations and individuals, and details can be found at www.blickcenter.org.
The Blick Center has been a member of the Akron community for nearly 50 years. They are a non-profit community agency that provides a variety of comprehensive clinical outpatient, residential, and day program services for individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs and other related conditions. The Blick Center works with over 1,500 individuals of all ages at five Blick Center locations, in school districts, at various work sites and in homes throughout Summit County.
More information is available at www.blickcenter.org, and tickets for the event can be purchased at www.eventbrite.com.
