9/11 survivor to speak at Woman's Club meeting
Hudson resident George Sleigh, a survivor of the 9/11 Twin Towers collapse, will speak about his experience to the Woman's Club of Hudson on March 6 at 1 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church. The public is invited, and a formal tea will be served following the program.
Sleigh was living in Livingston, New Jersey, and working at the World Trade Center in the American Bureau of Shipping at the time of the tragedy. After the collapse of the towers, the company temporarily moved to Paramus, NJ. He retired in 2003, and now lives here in Hudson.
The Woman's Club is collecting jars of spaghetti sauce this month for the Hudson.
Community Service Food Pantry. Membership in the club is open to anyone in the area. Organized in 1920, our only purpose is fund-raising for scholarships for Hudson students. Anyone with questions may call Janet Goheen at 330-650-6422.
Haven of Rest Auxiliary to mark St. Paddy's Day
Celebrate St. Patrick's Day by attending the March 7 Auxiliary program, featuring Brian McElhinney, a bagpiper who will be performing in traditional Celtic attire. McElhinney plays with the Akron and District Pipe Band as well as performing in competitions with the award-winning Celtic Eagle Pipe Band. He has won several first-place medals in solo piping competitions. The program begins at 1 p.m.
To do some bargain shopping where all profit goes to support Haven of Rest, arrive at 10 a.m. the day of Auxiliary. A light luncheon is served at noon and the program begins at 1 p.m. All activities take place at Haven of Rest's main building at 175 E. Market St., downtown Akron.

Relay For Life plans fundraisers
Now that the 2017 Stow Munroe Falls Hudson Relay For Life event season has begun, fundraisers are being planned to raise money to benefit the American Cancer Society and provide support for those touched by cancer.
There will be a Gavin Scott Spa Night on March 10 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Services being offered include an eyebrow wax, hand and arm massage, polish change (shellac or French excluded) and thechoice of a chair massage or mini facial. Reservations are $40 per person and also include your choice of wine, bottled water, soda and light snacks. Space is limited to 40 guests. The 5th Annual Relay For Life Reverse Raffle and Bingo Bash will be March 18 at St. Eugene's Social Hall, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave. in Cuyahoga Falls. The fun begins at 6 p.m. There will be a $1,000 main board, $500 and $300 side boards, bingo games and a silent auction. Tickets are $30 per person and include apasta dinner, dessert and soft drinks. A lip sync competition is being planned for April 7 as a fundraiser for the 2017 Stow-Munroe Falls-Hudson Relay for Life. Acts are needed for the event. There is a $20 per act registration fee and proceeds benefit Relay For Life. The event will take place at Stow Presbyterian Church. Tickets for the showwill go on sale mid-March.
