Rescue dogs to compete in Summit Metro Parks Fall Hiking Spree

Published: September 15, 2016 10:31 AM

We hope that each of these wonderful dogs finds their forever home before having the chance to complete the Fall Hiking Spree,” explained Executive Director Terri Nass Reeder. “But in the meantime, this is an excellent opportunity for our wonderful dogs to spend time with our volunteers in a non-shelter setting and enjoy the Fall weather. It is also a great way for potential adopters to identify dogs that like to go on longer walks or hikes. If adopted prior to finishing the hikes, we’re hoping their new families will finish the Spree and help them get their medallions.”

This effort was organized by the One of A Kind Pet Rescue #RunningDog team, a group of volunteers that specializes in taking rescue dogs out for multi-mile runs throughout the week. “Not every dog likes to run, but they all like to walk!” shared Cristin Roush, Spree coordinator. “We are excited to see how many dogs will earn their hiking medallion!”
