The Sept. 15 general meeting of the Hudson Garden Club will feature Judi Strauss and her program "Awash in Squash."
Strauss, an educator who teaches both gardening and cooking classes in the Cleveland area, will present innovative recipes for using squash and other produce from the late season garden and orchard. The evening will be a fun and delicious way to explore how to create new dishes with familiar fall produce.
Strauss will also bring samples of a select number of her culinary creations for tasting, as well as copies of her recipes to take home. Also an author with several cookbooks, Strauss will have books available for purchase by cash or check on the evening of the event.
Starting her career working in the horticulture department of the OSU Extension Service, Strauss now holds classes on many cooking and gardening topics. Her blog, "The Charmed Kitchen," inspires her readers by providing a place to share ideas and get answers on both topics. Blending her love of cooking and gardening, Strauss has also created a line of salt-free herb seasoning blends that enhance the flavors of the garden.
The September meeting will be at Laurel Lake, 200 Laurel Lake Drive, Hudson, with social time at 6:45 and the meeting starting at 7 p.m.
The general meetings of the Hudson Garden Club are open to the public and all are welcome. Contact Bronwyn Pierson at 330-612-4879 with any questions.
