NEO Gift of Life received a check for $5,000 from the proceeds of The Rotary Club of Hudson's 2013 Auction. Gift of Life is a charitable foundation coordinating with Akron Children's Hospital to bring in third world children born with genetic heart defects who do not have access to the medical procedures necessary to save their lives. The mission of Gift of Life is to reach more and more children each year. The efforts include diagnostic screening, surgical, and medical training.
All of these missions are funded by individual Gift of Life programs, which are aligned with Rotary Clubs and Districts around the world. Rotarians in developing countries will help to identify the facilities where the missions will be conducted. In some instances, Gift of Life provides the necessary equipment and supplies to the healthcare facility.
More than 50 children from Haiti, Egypt, Kenya and Dominican Republic have received life saving surgery here in north east Ohio. Drs Jeff and Ellen Kempf of Akron Children's Hospital have donated their skills to this program. More is needed as can be seen on www.golneo.org.
The 2013 Hudson Rotary Auction was sponsored by gold sponsors Akron Children's Hospital, American Endowment Foundation, Dollar Bank, Morgan Bank and Falls Filtration Technologies and at the silver level by Burton D. Morgan, Day Ketterer and Laurel Lake Retirement Community.
