We need to Understand Problems with new Stadium

Published:

I was at Kent State this week and the told me we (Hudson) have been shipping our football team to their field house and paying them $400 a pop to use the facility.

I like many of my Hudson friends contributed good money to this stadium and as such feel we should be informed as to what is going on. In my opinion the head of the athletic department should have managed this project and felt a responsibility in using the gifts he pushed so hard to receive. Is the rumor that the field was put down incorrectly accurate? Is it true that the field is bubbling up?

Again, in my opinion we deserve some answers to the problem as well as knowing whether the responsible parties are paying for our team to workout somewhere else at an additional cost

  • The $400 a pop to use KSU's facilities came from the The Boosters not the school district.

  • If there is a problem with the field, which there could very well be, it is not enough of one to prevent practices or games being played. The high school FB team used the indoor facility at KSU because of the conditions brought on by Sandy. Many teams in the playoffs do this when the weather is bad to take advantage of meeting rooms and to avoid player injuries. Practices are much more productive inside. As with most new construction and renovations, there are always going to be some issues that crop up. These are always worked out with the contractors involved. If you like to know more, then you should call the AD or the Superintendent. Maybe attend a board meeting or athletic boosters meeting where these issues are discussed.
