First Congregational Church of Hudson invites the community to share in their annual day of service by donating food and supplies to the food drive included in their church wide event, First Serve Serve First. The church will have crews located at the Acme parking lot, beginning at 11 a.m. on Sept. 7.
This year marks the third year that close to 600 volunteers will fan out around Hudson and surrounding communities to serve those who can use a helping hand. Projects will include interior and exterior clean-ups, filling of care boxes for the military, singing at care facilities, assembling of school kits and much more. Off-site projects will include work at Ronald McDonald House of Akron, the Battered Women's Shelter, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Findley Community Learning Center in Akron, the YMCA and many others.
Become part of this great service event by making a donation of food or supplies at the delivery site in the Acme plaza. Food will be donated to the Hudson Community Service Association Food Pantry, the Akron Canton Regional Foodbank, Ronald McDonald House and the Humane Society of Greater Akron. Watch for the full page ad in the Hudson Hub on Sept. 3 for a shopping list of the items requested by the organizations, then make plans to shop for items and stop by Acme plaza on Sept. 7. Donations will be accepted at the church leading up to Sept. 7. Call the church office for drop off details, 330-650-4048.
