KENT -- Steve Marshall, executive vice president and assistant to the president, has retired after 40 years of service to The Davey Tree Expert Company.
Marshall, who retired April 1, started his career in Davey's Akron office in 1977 as a lawn care technician. Over the years, he rose through the ranks to join the corporate office and become a key member of Davey's executive management team--and a proud employee-owner. He is a resident of Hudson.
"During his 40-year career, Steve undertook numerous management roles within the Davey Company that included positions in both our Residential/Commercial and Utility service lines, involving moves from Ohio to California and back," said Pat Covey, president and chief operating officer. "He has always maintained a positive, can-do attitude that has been so important when challenges arose. We are grateful to have had Steve's leadership and thoughtfulness for all these years."
Marshall started with Davey in 1977 as a lawn care technician in the Akron office. He transferred to Utility services and became area manager in 1989. He held various positions of increasing responsibility in Utility services until 2003, when he was promoted to vice president and general manager for Eastern Utility and was named a corporate officer. In 2007, he was promoted to executive vice president, operations. Marshall was a recipient of the John Davey Award in 2013 and a member of the inaugural Davey President's Council in 1988.
During his career, Marshall has served on the boards of several organizations, including the Tree Care Industry Association and American Forests.
