Acme Fresh Market is sponsoring a contest for local artists, with the chance for students to win up to $500 for their school’s art program! Don Drumm created a black and white line drawing exclusively for Acme Fresh Market, and Acme Fresh Market used the drawing to create a designer, reusable bag on material that can be “made beautiful” using crayons, markers, paint or whatever the artist dreams up!
Artists up through grade 12 are invited to make the bag beautiful, and enter their design into a contest with the opportunity to win up to $500 for their school’s art program. To enter, students submit a photo of their completed work to www.acmestores.com/DonDrumm. Winners will be selected by popular vote, and the entire community is invited to view the gallery and vote at www.acmestores.com/DonDrumm. The “Make Me Beautiful” bag is available exclusively at all Acme Fresh Market locations beginning August 21, while supplies last!
Where did Acme Fresh Market come up with the idea for the “Make Me Beautiful” contest? “Acme Fresh Market is a local grocery company – we live in this community and by talking to our customers daily in the stores, we have a great sense of what our customers like and we work very hard to make sure we provide that. One thing our customers love is designer, reusable Don Drumm bags, and we saw the opportunity to delight our customers by giving them a chance to create their own masterpiece, starting from a Don Drumm design.” Jim Trout, President of Acme Fresh Market explained.
The idea evolved from there to become a contest to support the local arts. “With school starting just when the bag is released, the “Make Me Beautiful” contest is a great way for Acme Fresh Market to support local arts and local schools by giving back to school art programs.” Katie Swartz, Director of Marketing stated.
There will be a total of six prizes awarded directly to the school art program of the winner’s choice - first, second and third prize in two age groups. First prize is $500, and second prize and third prize are $250 each – with prize money going directly to the school art program of the winner’s choice. Artists may enter in two age groups – 6th grade or lower, or 7th through 12th grade. Entrants must designate the school that the prize money will be awarded to at the time they submit their entry.
