AKRON, OH – Paul Schmidt, LLP, Partner and Chair of Baker Hostetler’s National Tax Group in Washington, D.C., will speak at the July Akron Tax Club Luncheon Meeting on July 30. Schmidt will address the topic of International Tax: Inversions, Reform & BEPS.

Major corporations legally avoid paying more than $100 billion in taxes every year by relocating their headquarters outside of the US or by shifting profits to overseas subsidiaries. Is BEPS one of the tax world’s most offensive 4-letter words?

Paul Schmidt takes us on an insightful journey into the world of global tax planning. Paul’s presentation will cover:

·         What an inversion is and tactics for inverting
·         Companies that have relocated their assets outside of the US, and why
·         Effective tax rates and why they impact decision making
·         What BEPS is
·         Why countries with high tax rates combat inversion and BEPS
·         The latest proposed US tax reform

The July Akron Tax Club Luncheon is Wednesday, July 30 at Rosemont Country Club, 3777 Rosemont Blvd., Fairlawn. Registration begins at 11:45. Lunch and CPE presentation is from 12:00 to 1:15.
