Strongsville, OH — On Saturday April 5, Pat Catan's hosted its 10th annual Iron Crafter Competition. This year’s competition was the largest in the history of the event. More than 140 teams from 94 different schools and 10 Girl Scout troops gathered and spent two hours crafting their best superhero themed projects using the "secret ingredient" Chameleon Skinz color changing duct tape.

During the competition each four-person team was provided with a box of basic supplies to get started. The boxes of supplies included black and white fur, Foamie sheets, felt, masks, feathers, bling, google eyes, cello rolls, tissue paper, face paint, garland and more. Teams also had a $25 allowance to spend on additional supplies throughout the store.

The teams had two hours to craft, and were only able to confer with their parent or teacher advisors for the first 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes of the competition.

The judges scored the crafters on their incorporation of the “secret ingredient”, teamwork and cooperation, use of the theme, neatness, durability, presentation, sportsmanship and creativity.

Each participant and team advisor received a $25 gift card and each store gave out an additional $100 in gift cards to the winning schools and organizations.

“We love having the students come in and have such a great time with the Iron Crafter. It is one of the highlights of our year” said Ray Young, PAT Catan’s Marketing Manager.

Participating stores included Strongsville, Cleveland, Sandusky, Cuyahoga Falls, Willowick, McKees Rocks, Warren, Springfield, Amherst, Murrysview, Pleasant Hills, Painesville, West Akron Plaza, Hermitage, Boardman, North Ridgeville, Wooster, Aliquippa, Westlake, Mount Nebo, Monroe, Bedford, Mt.
