Hudson -- Looking for an extra place to grab a bite to eat at the end of a long work week?
Kepner's Tavern, 88 North Main St. is now offering an added lunch option.
"We are opening up for lunch at 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays and Fridays," Chris Capece, owner of Kepner's Tavern said.
The tavern is open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday and from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday and Wednesday. The tavern is closed Tuesday and Sunday.
The tavern has been completely remodeled in the last year to increase capacity, Capece said.
"We took out all the old booths," Capece said. "It [the tavern] was built in 1892."
Capece has owned the tavern for 14 years.
"We've also put 20 [beer] taps in, instead of six," Capece said. "We can seat 75 to 100."
The historic bar has been named Kepner's since 1919, when the Kepner family purchased it, Capece said.
"Before that it was just an old saloon," Capece said.
According to Hudson history, Lockhart's Saloon was the original name of the pub. It was built in 1892 after the original Lockhart's caught fire and destroyed Hudson's downtown.
"Back then it was an all wood building," Capece said. "It caught fire and burnt the whole town down in 1892."
The tavern was rebuilt at its current location and in 1919 was sold to the Kepner family.
