Schnee Learning Center, recent recipient of the Charter School of the Year award, is partnering with local companies to provide high school students an opportunity to learn marketable job skills while they earn their diploma. The innovative approach to job training during high school is changing the kitchen table conversation about college versus career.
Schnee, 2222 Issaquah St., Cuyahoga Falls is hosting an open house on March 6 at 4:30 p.m. Guests on-hand will include representatives from SGS Tool Company and A&C Welding, Inc, the two companies providing the job training. They will explain how the programs work, outcomes and earning potential. The event is free and open to the public.
Students and their parents will be able to speak with the company representatives about their career opportunities. Enrollment packets will be available.
Two companies have stepped up to help high school students learn skilled trades at no cost to their families, while they complete their diploma. A&C Welding and SGS Tool Company executives feel the need to grow their own workforces and are willing to put forth the effort to make it happen.
“Our growing business needs quality people who are ready to work on their first day,” said Thomas J. Haag, President and CEO of SGS Tool Company. “The programs we’re creating are preparing tomorrow’s workforce today.”
“Often time companies are looking for experienced workers for their open positions. Yet, how do those that want to become part of the workforce get that needed experience? We understand this issue and are willing to help get these students the real world experience they need to embark on their chosen career path,” said Tim Gorbach, Treasurer, A&C Welding, Inc.
There is much talk about the so-called “skills gap” in America, but very little conversation about how to close it. Students can earn their high school credits at their own pace at Schnee Learning Center, then learn a universal set of workplace skills and eventually actual job training, absolutely free.
Schnee Learning Center provides students in grades 9-12 the opportunity to earn a high school diploma on a flexible schedule with an alternative approach to success.
