iBoutique offers profitable way to sell high end items

Hudson -- A couple have opened a new business selling high-end items on consignment.

Terri Klein and her husband, Perry, opened iBoutique Consignment Dec. 1, 2013 at 5833 Darrow Road in the Zeppe's Plaza.

They sell clothing, accessories, designer handbags, jewelry, unique pieces of furniture, home furnishings among other items, Klein said.

"I've always been in retail my whole life and consignment shopper all my life," Terry Klein said. "We had opportunity to do this and the way the economy is it made sense."

The store is open Mondays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The store is closed Sundays.

The Kleins offer a 50/50 split on items brought in for sale but they don't take items on Saturdays.

"People can walk in with their stuff," Klein said. "We're taking spring stuff right now."

Items need to be trendy and fashionable within the last two years and shoes are only taken if slightly worn, she said.

"I'm particular on what I take," Klein said.

Someone can bring something in and Klein will determine whether to sell it. It is placed on the floor for 60 days and then Klein asks the owner to pick it up. If they don't, it is donated to Dress for Success, she said.

"The boutique has a lot of new fashions not worn," Klein said. "There's something different every day."

They are looking for furniture, especially chests, armoires and one of a kind pieces, Klein said.

"There aren't very many [consignments] in Hudson," Klein said. "We're customer service friendly and trying to keep it a personal-type business."
