Rootstown -- Louis D. Barone, B.S., Pharm.D., R.Ph., FASHP, was recently appointed as associate dean of clinical and strategic partnerships for the Northeast Ohio Medical University College of Pharmacy.
Barone has served as vice chair of practice site resource management in the Department of Pharmacy Practice since 2007. As associate dean, he will continue to fulfill this role with the addition of focusing on pharmacy clinical affairs and strategic partnerships at the collegiate level. Barone also holds faculty rank of associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice.
For 12 years prior to joining NEOMED, Barone was the director of Medication Use Systems at The Cleveland Clinic; this after serving for eight years as the director of pharmacy at JFK Medical Center, a 375-bed hospital in W. Palm Beach, Fla. Dr. Barone earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy in Miami, Fla., and his bachelor's degree in pharmacy at the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy. In 2011, he was granted the distinction of Fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists in national recognition of sustained contributions to practice excellence. He also recently served as president of the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Barone currently resides in Hudson with his wife Jennifer, who is the development engineer for the City of Kent. They are proud of their two children, Caroline, a Pharm.D. degree student at the University of Cincinnati, and Dominic Barone, Ph.D., an aerospace engineer with General Electric Aviation.
