Akron - Akron SCORE will offer its popular Simple Steps for Starting Your Business workshops beginning Sept. 11, and continuing weekly through Oct. 16.
This free workshop series consists of six three-hour sessions that help evaluate an existing business or a new business idea. All of the workshops will be held at The Taylor Institute at The University of Akron, 225 S. Main St., from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Applicants must commit to attending all six workshops.
Workshop topics and dates include: Sept. 11 - Start-Up Basics, a no-nonsense look at the requirements of starting a business; Sept. 18 - Business Concept, key concepts involved with creating a business plan; Sept. 25 - Marketing Plan, how to market your product or service; Oct. 2 and 9 - Financial Matters, understanding business financials and forecasting for your business; Oct. 16 - Funding and Next Steps, information on how to finance your small business.
All of the workshops will be led by experienced SCORE counselors.
The interconnected series of workshops offers an interactive learning environment consisting of case studies and work assignments based on a participant's business idea. Attendees completing the series will receive a certificate of completion signifying that they have successfully completed the course.
