LifeCenter Plus to host 'Pedal for Heroes'

LifeCenter Plus is hosting a "Pedal For Heroes" fundraising event to support veterans Feb. 24 from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the facility, 5133 Darrow Road.

Members and non-members in the Stow and Hudson area are invited to participate in honoring 276 fallen Ohio veterans by cycling for 276 minutes, one minute for each fallen soldier who has sacrificed his or her life in the Middle East since the terrorist attack of 9/11.

"The Pedal For Heroes event honors the military personnel whom have lost their lives and supports local veterans programs while engaging in physical activity," said Jerry Lynch, a main organizer of the event. "Ohio veterans have given so much for us. This is an opportunity to help local veterans and support their efforts to transition back into the community."

LifeCenter Plus encourages the community to form teams to cycle on stationary bicycles for 276 minutes. Participants may also choose to walk, row, swim, or run for the allotted time.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Pedal For Heroes, a 501(c)(3) organization, to provide services to local veterans. Last year, more than $16,000 was raised by 11 participating fitness facilities in Northeast Ohio.
