The first general meeting of the Hudson Players' 2012-13 theater season will take place Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. at Barlow Community Center, 41 S. Oviatt St., Hudson. Current group members are encouraged to attend, along with anyone interested in finding out more about the all-volunteer, non-profit community theater group currently in its 68th season. Volunteers build and paint the sets, make and find the costumes, aim and run the lights, raise funds, promote the shows, act in the productions and more. In short, volunteers get the opportunity to participate in great theater while having a good time and making new friends which is actually the group's slogan -- "Good Shows, Good Friends, Good Times." Anyone interested in joining, or just for more information, is encouraged to attend. The meeting will feature reports on the past season and summer activities as well as a look forward to the 2012-13 theater season which opened with an Agatha Christie classic, "The Mousetrap." Other upcoming productions include: "Uh Oh, here comes Christmas," "Something's Afoot" and "Little Shop of Horrors." Crew members are needed for all shows. Volunteer and involvement activities both large and small also will be reviewed, future season efforts discussed, outstanding member efforts will be recognized and perhaps even a fun surprise or giveaway. Members are asked to attend the meeting as some items may require authorization from the group and general input on ideas and activities is always appreciated. Immediately following the meeting, auditions will take place for the musical comical murder mystery spoof, "Something's Afoot," with roles available for six men and four women. This is also a great opportunity for those interested in working back stage or with the production to sign up and get involved. Involvement in the Hudson Players is open to all with no restrictions but those auditioning are asked to be 21 or over. Copies of the audition scenes will be available at the Hudson library and those auditioning will be asked to read from the script and have a song prepared. English accents are encouraged but not required. More information is available at www.hudsonplayers.com or by calling 330-655-8522.
