LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- The Blue Angels will perform at the Kentucky Derby Festival's Thunder Over Louisville this year for the first time since 2006.
Thunder Over Louisville, the opening ceremony for the festival, is set for April 12.
Festival President and CEO Mike Berry says it's an honor to have the Blue Angels perform as part of the program, which includes an air show and fireworks extravaganza.
The Blue Angels are made up of Navy and Marine Corps jet pilots. The exhibition team includes 16 officers.
The Blue Angels were created in 1946 and have been viewed by millions during air shows. They are scheduled to fly in performances at 35 locations this year.
