DALLAS (AP) -- Transportation in North Texas struggled to recover from disruptions caused by accumulated ice and sleet.
Freezing rain and sleet on Friday forced the cancellation of more than 750 airline departures from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. That's about 90 percent of the Friday flight schedule.
At Dallas Love Field, Southwest Airlines cancelled 42 departures.
Fort Worth, Texas-based American Airlines and American Eagle canceled nearly 1,000 flights throughout their systems because of the winter storm's effects on its DFW hub. Dallas-based Southwest canceled almost 90 flights systemwide.
American and American Eagle operate about 3,500 flights daily worldwide. Southwest makes 3,200 flights systemwide daily, and its AirTran Airways subsidiary makes 410 flights.
