CLEVELAND (AP) -- A northeast Ohio man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting his former girlfriend at the factory where she worked.
The Cuyahoga (KY-uh-HOH'-guh) County prosecutor's office said 32-year-old Maurice Brown was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to aggravated murder and other charges.
Prosecutors said Brown, a career criminal, went to the Metal Fabricating Corp. factory in Cleveland last July and shot 29-year-old Doris Schobel four times, including at least twice after she had fallen to the floor. He fired more shots in the air as he left the factory.
At the time Brown was wanted on two separate warrants for failing to appear at arraignments.
Calling him a "dangerous man," Judge Pamela Barker sentenced Brown to life with no chance of parole for more than 37 years.
