TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Toledo's new mayor says he wants city employees to start using Toledo Express Airport when they're traveling on business trips.
Mayor D. Michael Collins says the change is a way to support the financially struggling airport that has been losing travelers to Detroit Metropolitan Airport in recent years.
Collins says he'll fly to Washington next week out of the Toledo airport next week even though the trip will include a layover in Chicago.
He says it will take a little longer than flying out of Detroit, but the ticket is $30 cheaper.
The Blade newspaper (http://bit.ly/1fC29fL ) reports that the taxpayer-supported Toledo airport is on pace to have its first increase in passenger service since 2004.
There had been a steady drop in recent years after several carriers dropped flights.
