FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (AP) -- Authorities say a 9-year-old boy drowned when he fell through the ice on a pond in southwestern Ohio.
The boy's sister also fell through the ice on the pond in Clermont County east of Cincinnati on Sunday afternoon, but she was rescued and is expected to recover.
A dive team recovered the boy's body, and he was pronounced dead at a hospital at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
The property owner, Landon Wiliams, said he told the three children to get off the ice, and the brother and sister broke through as they were leaving.
Williams said he used an electrical extension cord to help pull the girl to safety. But the girl's brother went under water as rescue crews arrived.
Their names haven't been released.
