OXFORD, Ohio (AP) -- Construction is set to begin in 2014 on a sports facility on the Miami University campus in Oxford.
The school in southwest Ohio plans a 91,000-square-foot building that will include an indoor football field with synthetic turf; netting for baseball, softball and golf practices, and running lanes and jumping pits. Activities will be moved from aging Withrow Court.
The Dayton Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/19Khczz ) that private donations will fund most of the $13 million project.
The school is seeking funding for renovations of the building that houses its geology and geography departments.
Miami's capital plan also calls for renovations to buildings on other campuses in Butler County.
A science lab will get improvements at the Hamilton campus, and a library is slated for upgrades at the Middletown campus.
